The Muscatine Running Club provides support to local races. Although there is no membership, it is a group of volunteers with equipment and knowledge in road race logistics, organization and scoring/results tabulation. We also coordinate racing events to avoid the possibility of running events occurring on the same date.
If you have questions or would like to volunteer to help at local events, call Dell Wagner, 263-8804.

The following are the rules for the Muscatine Grand Prix. Many of the races in Muscatine and Muscatine County will be a part of the Muscatine Grand Prix. The series of races will determine who will be a Muscatine Runner of the Year.
Run in as many of the qualifying races or as few as six to earn a maximum number of points in the Grand Prix. Points will be calculated based on your overall finish among all finishers and your gender. Subcategories will be by age division beginning with: under 15, 15-29 then our regular age divisions: 30-34, 35-39, etc... Winning your age division can make you a Muscatine Runner of the Year!
In any given race, the first place runner for both men and women will each score 1000 points, last place finishers score 100 points, and those in between score an amount equal to their percentage of the field they finish in front of. An individual's points from one race carry over to the next race where they are added to the next race's points, and on,... Runners competing in more than 6 races will have their six best scores go towards their point total. To be eligible for Runner of the Year award, a runner must have entered a minimum of 3 Grand Prix races during the season.
"What if my birthday during the season puts me in a new age division?" Runners will compete in the age division they run their first race in for the entire season.
After each race is completed and results are obtained from the respective race director, points will be tallied and then posted on the Women's and Men's Grand Prix scoreboard (see below) at this site.
Iowa is known across the country for Bix and Drake Relays. So much of their success comes from people across the state who are either fans of running and racing, competitors themselves, or people who are both fans and competitors. For the size of our town, Muscatine's running and racing calendar of events may be unrivaled. The Muscatine Runners of the Year is a means of highlighting the local racing season for runners and fans alike. "Runners set....GO!!!"
